On September 5, in the Italian city of Reggio Emilia, Italy will play against Israel in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.
In addition to practicing colonialism and apartheid against the entire Palestinian population, Israel has:
- bombed and destroyed Palestinian stadiums;
- detained, imprisoned and killed Palestinian footballers;
- prevented Palestinian players from traveling for training and matched within and out of the occupied Palestinian territory;
- shot young Palestinian players in their feet, putting an end to their careers.
The Israel Football Association (IFA) also includes seven teams based in Israeli settlements built in violation of International law on Palestinian land. These seven teams play in violation of FIFA statues, which forbid playing matches on the territory of another member without its approval.
Just as in 1964, when FIFA suspended South Africa over its apartheid policies, a decision maintained until the end of the Apartheid regime, today we renew the call for FIFA to suspend the Israel Football Association until Israel respects Palestinians’ rights and international law.
We invite all groups supporting Palestinian rights and all those who hold dear Human Rights to join the events in Reggio Emilia and on social media

Nelson Mandela saw sports as a means of transmitting universal human values, but even the right to sport is denied, along with other fundamental rights. In the Occupied Palestinian Territories (West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip) the right to sport is limited and often denied.
