Meeting with Israeli war criminal at European Parliament canceled

Update to press release sent this morning: An email from the office of MEP Fulvio Martusciello confirms that the meeting with Israeli General Yoav Mordechai at the European Parliament, initially scheduled for this morning at 10:30 am, was canceled.

While BDS Italy welcomes the news, we wonder how it was possible to invite a person likely involved in war crimes to the European Parliament. It is clear that the outrage, protests – also by other MEPs - and problems that would have ensued were instrumental in leading to the cancellation of the event less than an hour before it was to begin.

Below is the letter sent at 8.00 am today by BDS Italy to MEP Martusciello, organizer of the event and chairman of the Delegation for relations with Israel of the European Parliament, to demand that the meeting be canceled.

We renew our calls to EU institutions to take concrete measures to put an end to Israeli impunity for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people, including the immediate suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, which inexplicably remains in force.
